During December, Bromley Phoenix welcomed professional basketball player Gabby Nikitinaite into several U14 and U16 boys training sessions.
Gabby is currently in her third year as a professional player after completing her collegiate career in the United States. She has gone on to play professionally in Europe, including competing in the EuroCup, and brings experience from international basketball as a former Great Britain junior international who now represents Lithuania.
Across a number of December practices, Gabby worked closely with our junior players, placing a strong focus on defensive fundamentals. Sessions centred around positioning, communication, effort, and understanding the intensity required on the defensive end of the floor.
Her presence ate Phoenix provided players with valuable insight into the standards and habits needed as they progress through the development pathway. The detail and clarity she brought to sessions aligned closely with the direction of our junior programme.
Opportunities like these are particularly important as Bromley Phoenix looks to expand into the Junior National League next season, with an emphasis on developing players who are ready to compete in more demanding environments.
We would like to thank Gabby for the time she spent working with our junior squads and wish her the very best with her next move in the professional game.
