U12 Basketball in bromley | mixed community session
Our U12 Mixed Community Session is designed to be the best entry point into basketball in Bromley especially for families who want a safe, friendly environment with professional coaching.
This session is open to players in school Years 5, 6 and 7, across all ability levels. If your child is brand new, we’ll teach fundamentals from the ground up. If they already play, we’ll help them improve technique, confidence and decision-making.

what your child will learn
Individual Skill Development
We focus on the “must-have” fundamentals: ball handling, accurate passing, and proper shooting form. Your child will work on the footwork and finishing moves needed to become a confident, versatile player.
Basketball IQ & Teamwork
Great players know where to be on the court. We teach the basics of floor spacing, smart movement, and defensive positioning, helping players understand how to contribute and succeed within a team.
Confidence-Building Environment
We believe players learn best when they’re having fun. Our sessions are carefully structured to keep kids engaged and motivated, balancing high-quality coaching with a positive, high-energy atmosphere.

My child has never played basketball - is that okay?
Yes! This is exactly what our U12 session is built for. We welcome all abilities!
Is this a pathway into teams?
Potentially. The priority is development and we’ll advise if/when a player is ready for a different environment at Bromley Phoenix. Take a look at our Player Pathway.
Do I have to purchase Bromley Phoenix kit to participate?
No. For our community sessions, your child simply needs to be wearing appropriate sportswear (t-shirt, shorts/tracksuit bottoms and trainers). Don’t forget a filled water bottle too!
Can parents stay and watch the session?
Yes! Parents are welcome to stay and watch the session if you wish!
What school years are included?
U12 typically covers Years 5–7. If you’re unsure, message us and we’ll place your child correctly.
Is U12 for boys and girls?
Yes! We want as many boys and girls to pick up a basketball and our U12 session is the perfect starting point! We’ll always aim to make sure players are supported appropriately.
Junior sessions are the starting point of a players journey at Bromley Phoenix. Our player pathway is designed to ensure all players can achieve at every level at the club. Players who are ready to progress will move into our Compete programme, where they will represent the club at Central Venue League levels.
