Rob MacAllister
Background
Rob has been immersed in basketball since the age of 13, building a reputation over two decades as a dedicated player, coach, and leader. A qualified Level 2 coach with extensive experience across junior and senior basketball, Rob focuses on developing disciplined, fundamentally sound athletes who value team success above individual accolades.
His playing career began with Ware Rebels at National League U16 level, followed by a championship-winning spell with the Saffron Walden Steelers men’s team in the Cambridge and Essex Premier Division. At university, Rob played for KBI Kings in the WEBBA League and Bath & Trowbridge Titans in National League competition, while leading the Basketball Society at Bath Spa University as President from 2007 to 2010.
Rob’s coaching journey started early, coaching all school teams at The Bishop’s Stortford High School while still a student — earning the rare honour of school colours for basketball. His experience expanded internationally as Head Basketball Coach at Kamp Kohut in Maine, USA, leading sessions for players aged 6 to 16.
In 2009, Rob achieved his Level 2 coaching qualification and went on to coach and play at senior level, including a successful tenure as Head Coach and player at Eltham Eagles, leading the team to a Medway Plate victory.
In recent years
From 2021 to 2025, Rob coached various Bromley Fury development squads and led the U16 National League team at the internationally renowned GloBasket tournament in 2025. He also ran the club’s senior program while competing for Fury 1.
Today, Rob is the co-founder and head coach of Bromley Phoenix Basketball Club, where he continues to build teams grounded in discipline, teamwork, and playing the game the right way.
